We are big fans of simple holiday crafts, and this one is so fun! Using toilet paper rolls, you can create festive party poppers that are easy to make and fun to use.
What You’ll Need
Before we dive in, here’s a quick list of materials you’ll need:
One toilet paper roll for each party popper
One balloon
Decorative materials for the outside (stickers, markers, glitter)
Glue, if you use a coloring sheet
Washi tape or any tape to secure the balloon
Something festive for the inside (I like mini pom-poms, but you can also use confetti!)
Gather all your materials, find a table, and let’s begin creating!
Step 1: Prepare the Balloon
First, let’s get the roll ready. Use an empty toilet paper roll and decorate it however you like! I printed out a New Year's Eve themed paper, but you can color on any paper or directly on the roll. Attach the colored paper around the roll with glue.
Step 2: Attach the Balloon to the Roll
Next, take a balloon and tie it. Cut off the end of the balloon. Stretch the cut end of the balloon over one end of the roll. This is what will create the pop when you pull on the other end of the balloon!
Secure the balloon in place with some washi tape or regular tape. Make sure it's tight! The more snug the better. It won't work as well if it's not completely tight on the end of the roll.
Step 3: Add the Inside Surprise
Once your popper is put together, it’s time to fill the inside! Add your chosen fillers to the open end of the roll. While mini pom-poms add a splash of color, confetti offers that traditional party feel. If you use pom-poms, use the smallest ones you have! The bigger ones don't pop as well.
Step 4: Get Ready to Pop!
When the countdown begins, everyone can pull the balloon to unleash the festive surprise inside! You and your toddler will have a blast making these poppers.
A Joyful Way to Celebrate
Crafting party poppers from toilet paper rolls is more than just a fun toddler activity; it adds joy and creativity to your New Year's Eve celebration! It’s easy, engaging, and allows for lots of imaginative expression.
This New Year's Eve, gather your supplies, enjoy some quality time crafting, and create wonderful memories with your toddler. I'm excited to hear how your party poppers turn out! Happy New Year, and happy crafting!
